ni_gentry
I'd like to hear how other people charge for additional post production on images (particularly wedding/portrait clients). <p> I run all images through a post-processing workflow before delivering to the client. Everything gets exposure/color/contrast adjustments and maybe some extra selective retouching if I like the image enough. Everything is pretty close to "final" as I would have it... but of course I don't go through each and every image to remove zits, wrinkles, stray hairs in the face, etc. Those "imperfections" don't usually show up on 4x6" size prints anyway. <p> When someone orders a larger print (8x10 or bigger) then I will do a little more to clean up those and that time/effort is factored into my print pricing. I have been mostly telling people who inquire about additional retouching to just purchase the print for those images. But would be interested to hear how other people deal with and charge for additional retouching... per image? by the hour? minimum charges? other?<p>
stephen dohring
I think it would depend on the client. If you meet them and their skin is bad you should mention it (tactfully) and add it to the price and inform them as you may have a lot of work to do. Being hungry and in need of my own clients I would do it for no charge and inform them about that and show a before and after pic of my handywork. phoneguy
I include touch up of all photos included in the album, or for print. Other than that, I don't touch up proofs, beyond exposure, crop, and sharpening.
larry_moore
I am like Mike, I only retouch on 8x10 or larger and any size of that same image has the retouch. Occasionaly I will retouch something else for my benefit. Proofs are as is no retouch on those. I price based on knowing that I will be doing some retouch work, if there is an extreme issue on a portrait session as opposed to wedding then I may charge-if it is my fault never but if it a specific extreem request from a client then I do. Flat fee never based on time. Brooke
kari douma
My proofs are corrected for WB, expososure, color and crop. When they order ANY SIZE, I will clean up skin, stray hairs (within reason... and not too many), teeth whitening, ect. If they want more extreme PS work like switching heads, then I charge.
