albert_h.
Are Carl Zeiss lenses sharper, do they produce more distinct pictures then Bronica lenses? This is a comparison between the Hasselblad 501CM in kit and the Bronica SQ-B in kit.
werner boeckelen
Hallo Albert,
there was a big comparison in the german "color-foto" a couple of years ago. The result was, that all Zeiss lenses were a bit more contrasty than the bronicas, the sharpness was pretty much the same.As I can compare them also in practice, using a 2,8/80 Planar (on a Rollei SL66) and a 2,8/80 Zenzanon (not the SE) (on a Bronica SQ), you can recognize the difference esp. with slides in large projection (more than 3m x 3m) and using a Fuji Velvia on a tripod.
But to my opinion, the question is not primarily the performance ofthe camera-lens. The more interesting question is, if your chain fromthe camera-lens, the right film, the right developement, the rightlens for the slide-projector or the right lens for the enlarger keepsthe quality. To my experience it is very important, to regard the whole process.
I would take the bronica, because its more leigthweight, cheaper andmore userfriendly (but this is a personal feeling)
Werner
linh___
I used Bronica SQ with PS lens. Two years ago, I switched to Hassy with ct* lens. Sharpness is very close. I love Hassy much more because of its beauty, ease of change ring filters and more reliable. Hassy body is actually smaller. Linh
