Happy Thursday to everyone and thanks to all that contributed a photo last week. We had 86 posts in last week's POW thread, which is quite a bit more than usual. Let's keep shooting and sharing and keep increasing those numbers.

I've been on a wood duck kick lately and have been chasing them around one of our local parks here in KY. I've gotten several photos so far, some good, a lot bad, but here is one of the only in flight photos I've managed to get. I'm happy with the photo, but I'd love calmer and not so dirty water for a better reflection. I guess it just gives me something to shoot for.

00YWeq-345887584.jpg.8e06da2bc1583f5cfe188d675eac1acc.jpg

Not entirely happy with this shot. Once again I was bored and ventured out to the trusty backyard to find a shot. There's a bush in the corner of my backyard that has these flowers growing on it. I couldn't tell you what they're called though. Unfortunately it was a bit windy and my shutter speed wasn't fast at all and the flower was swaying a bit, so it's not as sharp as I'd like it to be, but oh well. I plan to try this again tomorrow, hopefully when it's less windy. The wind was certainly nice from a cooling perspective, but not so much for this shot.

A Steppe Eagle spotted in a "high altitude" zoo in Nainital, India. Looking at it from about 7/8 feet away, I was really surprised at how big these birds were! (Canon 40D, Canon 70-300IS/f4-5.6, 1/1000, f5.6, ISO 200, 300mm, AE mode/Center weighted/Bias 0)

Got a new lens this week 17-55mm 2.8 which is excellent I bought it with a view to complement my 50mm 1.4, was trying it out in my new studio and whilst its not as super sharp as the 50mm its pretty close. Had the pleasure of doning a maternity session yesterday and used the 17-55....I like it alot.

00YWhN-345919584.jpg.4a9410638f0f39e7a7842a0cc8489832.jpg

From a larger cosplay meeting last Saturday: The girl in the wheelchair is wearing a costume, but she was injured attending an even larger cosplay fair last month -- knocked over by a hugging friend. Despite a serious fracture in her leg she is still cosplaying... now that is commitment.
