  1. Important: please keep your image under 700 pixels wide/high for in-line viewing, and please try to keep the FILE SIZE UNDER 300kb. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site (at Flickr, Photobucket, your own site, etc). Are you new to this thread? The general guidelines for these Thursday threads are right here. Remember: only 3 images each week!
It that time again. Please post your favorite pic(s) for this week. Mine's of the London Eye, and I look forward to seeing all of yours.

  3. Nice perspective, Robin!
Jeff, I don't understand it...we go to the same places, yet my photos don't quite look the same.
Fish in the trees, Andy? Interesting image.

  4. Very chilly Thursday morning greetings. Here are some ribbons and waves of snow geese flying across the water.
Mark, the Juncos here are scratching and pecking at frozen, snow swept ground. I think they'd be very happy in your image.

  11. The Sonoran Desert around Tucson woke up New Year's morning to a dusting of snow. This usually happens once every few years, and melts away by the afternoon.

  17. Great image, Andy. Very nice!
Here's one from last week in Fukuoka, Japan. The local professional baseball team is called the "Soft Bank Hawks," because they are sponsored by Soft Bank, the third largest telecom company in Japan. Kinda like a Japanese T-Mobile. The players are very friendly and you can shake hands with them any time you want, day or night.

    Thanks John.
It's actually a juvenile red-tail hawk, with tufts of feathers sticking up for some reason. It had been very active eating voles and had just finished one off just before this take-off. I didn't see what might have mussed up the feathers on top of its head.

  24. Thanks, Laura!
John P, the yellow on the beak is a clear indicator it is not a short-eared owl. The head feathers do make it look like an owl, though.
David, I couldn't tell if it was a RTH or a Broad-Wing Hawk when I saw the image. Good timing on this and the deer!
