I shall be leaving Khon Kaen in Thailand tomorrow after being here for 6 weeks. Not sure why I stayed so long as

there are no obvious attractions apart from the laid back atmosphere, the people and the food. This lady has been

cleaning up after me during my stay. Her English and my Thai have improved no end. Off to Nong Kai tomorrow and then maybe Laos</p><div></div>

<p>I'm feeling quite pleased at the moment, I've finally licensed my Flehmen image! It's being used by a Norwegian TV channel in a science programme.<br>

I found these "ice ferns" after a big snow followed by icing. They had formed on the spore bearing fronds of Cinnamon Ferns that were still above the snow. </p><div></div>

<p>Thank you Thom, I'd never seen anything like them. I thought they were pretty cool. The heavy equipment is great against that sky.</p>

<p>While much of the USA is suffering through severe winter storms and huge amounts of snow, California is drought stricken and wishing we had some of that water. The fair weather has brought out the almond blossoms.</p><div></div>

<p>Many of the trees are already dropping their petals making the ground look snow covered. It will be interesting to see how the crop turns out with the lack of water.</p><div></div>

<p>I spent the week going through some Arizona desert shots from 10 years ago, trying to find a silk purse among the sow's ears. No silk purses yet, but here's one of the better sow's ears.</p>
