Canon Thursday #19

  1. Important: please keep your image under 700 pixels wide/high for in-line viewing, and please try to keep the FILE SIZE UNDER 300kb. Note that this includes photos hosted off-site (at Flickr, Photobucket, your own site, etc). Are you new to this thread? The general guidelines for these Thursday threads are right here. Remember: only 3 images each week.
It's Canon Thursday, so let's see your shots for the week. I'll start off with Magnolia blossoms, a classic sign of early spring in the Northeastern US.
  2. A month ago St Paul's Cathedral opened its doors to photographers for an evening.
I spent my time shooting with an EOS 1v loaded with Ilford Pan F 50, not out of choice, but because my 5D2+24-105 disappeared on the way there (now replaced with a 5D3+24-105 by my insurance company).
The first image earned a "commended" in the photography competition St Paul's ran and was hand held with a 70-200/2.8 IS, the second is a ~30 second exposure using a Samyang 14/2.8

  4. Cherry Blossom.
  5. I just got home from a couple of days in Yellowstone National Park. If you haven't been, I highly recommend a visit. It's a great place to get face-to-face with the animals. And you see a lot of expensive glass there too.
  6. Cow elk.
  7. I didn't get too close to this guy.
  8. Fording the upper reaches of the River of Rocks. Water flows under this extensive boulder field. It is audible, but not visible.
  9. Every year the Steelhead Rainbow Trout migrate to the falls in Orleans Vermont. Caught a few jumping.

  13. Nesting Yellow Crown Night Herons from last night. There are 3 nests in a residential area, not near any bodies of water.
  14. Peter, nice shots in St. Paul's - I shot my first roll of colour slide film there in 1965 with my then new Halina Paulette. This week three newcomers in my yard - #1 Limpkin who had a feast on paper pondshell mussels; #2 Juvenile little blue heron; #3 Spotted sandpiper - six stopped overnight on their migration north. EOS 7D2 + EF 500mm f/4 IS II + 2x II (#1) and Tamron 150-600mm (#2 #3)

  16. I went to the national military museum at the old US air force base in Soesterberg (Netherlands) on Tuesday. The 5th of May is the day our country celebrates the day of liberation of WWII.
  17. And another:
  18. Here's a couple that I shot this past week while traveling in the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee.
This is the Mingus Mill in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This is a HDR set of 3 images (-1, 0, +1 EV) merged in Lightroom.

    EOS 6D, EF 24-105 f/4 L IS USM @ 50mm, ISO 400, f/7.1 @ 1/125 (HDR +/- 1EV)
  19. And here's the Looking Glass Falls in the Pisgah National Forest.

    EOS 6D, EF 24-105 f/4 L IS USM @ 35mm, ISO 50, f/8 @ 1/50
