kevin m.
To whoever may be interested, I'm posting three wide-open pics I shot this afternoon with the Canon 50mm f1.5 I just purchased from Tom Tsai. (thanks, Tom!)

All three are full-frame, no cropping. Shot on Fuji 800 NPZ, which isn't the sharpest film in the world. ;-) B&W conversion via PS Gradient Map, Mild sharpening and contrast tweaks, that's it. Lens was mounted via adapter to a Hexar RF.
I must mention that the lens is a little jewel. Solid chrome plated brass, heavy as h*ll. It takes the oddball 40mm filter, but Tom pointed out an ebay seller who offers a cheap 40-40.5mm adapter. On the plus side, the external diameter of the lens is a perfect fit with the older Leica swing out polarizer (as are the VC 21 and 25, FWIW.) sk_szekiat
beautiful shots of the little girl (?daughter/grand daughter). Its really the guy behind it that matters the most i guess. I'd frame those up if i were u.
frederick_muller
Really like the black and white. Nice work!
Karim Ghantous
First shot is very nice. Looks like a damned nice lens. Close range bokeh seems nicer than long range. Lovely girl, too!

thomas_t
Kevin, You make that lens shine ! You are making me miss it already ;-) Simply lovely shots of your daughter, beautiful model and photos. I agree that both should be destined for framing. The second shot in particular has such a charming whimsical quality and classic look to it. Congrats :-)
35mmdelux
Your B&W winners. Excellente!
kevin m.
Thanks for the comments, guys! One thing I noticed is that the "sonnar look" of this lens is somewhat less pronounced than that my Jupiter 3. Of course the sad thing about the Jupiter is I can't reliably focus up close and wide open with it. I'm anxious to try a slower, finer grained film with this lens. I'll post more when I get 'em. piotr_panne
They are pretty good. Makes sane people question razor-lens mania.

kevin m.
Rich, I saw your photos when I searched the archives and they helped convince me to seek out one of these lenses. Cheers! :-)
