andrew_amrhein
I am sending the 10D to a Canon Service Facility for calibration. Should I send it to New Jersey or the Irvine, CA facility. I have heard some bad things about the New Jersey facility. Thanks, Andy
zensphoto
What kind of bad things? I would probably send it to the facility that is closest to you. The closer the better, less travel time in the package. Less chance of shipping damage. I am interested in what bad things you have heard. Have a great day ! carl cherry
I recently had a lens serviced by the NJ facility. They sent me a postcard with a projected return date. My lens was returned in perfect repair and ahead of schedule. No complaints. CARL
melissa_eiselein
I had good luck with the Irvine facility, but I walked my lens in and then had them mail it back to me.
andrew_amrhein
I posted an earlier thread talking about the 10D I just purchased from someone for a good price, but it has a front focusing problem that needs calibration. After watching this forum and another one, I have seen more bad comments about the NJ facility. The comments are on the nature of having to send the equipment back multiple times to get the repair corrected, and taking an exceedingly long amount of time to return the equipment after repair. I want my equipment repaired correctly the first time in a "reasonable" amount of time. I will be sending my 2 Canon lenses along with the body since I cannot get a clear answer as to whether this is a body or lens problem. Regardless, it should not take that long to repair since judging by this forum and another this is a somewhat recurring problem with this camera. Thanks for the info. paul_ho1
The Chicago service facility lost the original packing material I sent with my lens and refuses to replace it or compensate me.
Rob_L1664876404
I just had a new EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS repaired at the NJ facility (I live in Georgia). My door to my door was 12 days, I recieved both written and e-mail communication, and the repair seems to have been done well (bad/noisy gyro bearing - IS assembly replaced). Except for having a problem with the lens in the first place, a good experience for me. However, all these forum posts are anecdotal at best - data... we need lots of data! digitmstr
Irvine is great! I brought my camera in just for a checkup and they actually did it the same day (I got lucky).
ian_klimon
Do you have an address for the Irvine service center? Or a web address to schedule an appointment/drop-off?
ian_klimon
Oops, didn't realize I was posting to a 3 year old thread. Well, the question still stands. :)
shawn_glisson
15955 Alton Parkway Irvine CA 92618 Phone: 949-753-4200 I've used their Express Service Center a few times. Mornings are often busy and you may have a 30 to 45 minute wait, but after 4pm, usually no wait. The location is near the intersection of the I-5 and I-405.
