Canon S3IS

I just bought the Canon S3IS and was wondering what the best setting is to

shoot concerts in?

The "Concert Setting".

 

Use the search function, you have asked a vague question. It all depends on the lighting at the venue. The S3IS is a very versatile camera, but you have to understand the settings.

Well there is usually a lot of low-light and sometimes dry ice. Most of the colors are red, blues, and greens.

Then it'd be the "Low Light, Dry Ice R,G,B Concert" setting.

 

Please, have you read your camera manual? What setting you use use when the lighting is artificial?

There's no subsitute for experience, I'm afraid. Try shooting (before the event) at the concert-like settings, experimenting with different ISOs (everything from 80 to the Hi ISO settings), see what's the slowest shutter speed *you* personally can handhold the camera with the IS on, etc. The S3 is a very versatile camera.

I should add that depending on where you'll be sitting, your flash may be of no use. So try some shots with and without the flash.
