Canon macro FD-EOS coverter

I read in Canon EOS FAQ by Bob Atkins that the Canon FD-EOS macro converter is not recomended with Canon EOS bodies, that don't have interchangeable focusing screens, because the exposure readings are not accurate. I have an ELAN II and a REBEL XS and I want to buy the Macro converter to use it with my Macros FD 50/3.5 and FD 100/4. Do TTL flash systems of these cameras work well with the macro converter? Is there a constant factor of exposure compensation for ambient light, when the camera meter is used, or the exposure compensation is variable according to intensity of ambient light? Is there any risk of damage, if these cameras are used with the Canon macro converter (which is not recomended to be used with these cameras)? Thank you very much. B. Riber

I don't think there is risk of damage. My guess is TTL flash will be

OK since the flash sensor is on the floor of the mirror box, not up

above the screen.

As for exposure factors, it's probably constant and it's probably

quite small. It's really only a short extension tube with an EOS mount

on one end and an FD mount on the other.
