ggoodroe
Any idea how Bjorn did this? http://www.photo.net/photo/3950754 I wonder if it worked normally and had focus to infinity? /Shrugs George Goodroe, CFP St. Petersburg, FL USA
vivek iyer
Bjorn might answer in detail how he did it. :-) In general, all shift/tilt lenses have a longer back focus and project an image circle of >60mm.
ggoodroe
I wish Nikon made a WA TS lens...I wouldn't be tempted to buy that lens if they did...LOL
oceanphysics
Somebody (maybe more than one somebody) used to do these FD tilt-shift to Nikon conversions. They're around. As far as I know they function normally. (As far as I know, they don't have an auto diaphragm anyway, so there's not much "function" to start out with). ShunCheung
In one of John Shaw's photo instruction videos, he demonstrated a modified Canon FD T/S lens with its rear part removed and replaced with a Nikon F mount to work with Nikon SLRs. That video was from over 10 years ago when digital wasn't even in the picture. Later on Shaw simply bought an inexpensive EOS film body to go along with EF (EOS) T/S lenses. michael_bradtke
George Send Bjorn a email. He was very helpful to me when I had some IR photography questions. I bet he would give you all the information you need. Michael
erik_loza
Cool. Will it focus to infinity or is it for primarily close-up work?
vivek iyer
It should do infinity. Read my post above.
vincenzo_maielli
Hi, dear friend. It's possible mount a Canon lens on Nikon body, with infinity focus manteinance and stop down exposure measurement. It' impossible mount a Nikon lens on Canon body. However, see www.cameraquest.com and www.fotodiox.com for more info. Ciao. ShunCheung
Please read my answer above first. The way John Shaw, and presumably Bjorn Rorslett, mounted a Canon FD lens onto a Nikon body was not thru a simple mount adapter. Major surgery was performed on the Canon FD lens to remove the rear portion and then fit a Nikon F mount on it. The modification involved was complex, but the lens could focus to infinity. John Shaw used it for landscape work to put near-far subject all into focus.
