glen_h
I just got a Canon IIIA which seems to work fine, except for the viewfinder. The only view is the rangefinder circle. But otherwise, it might be good to give it a nice CLA. Is there a recommended place to do that? And about how much is a good price? (It cost $27, with the description saying that slow shutter speeds didn't work, but it seems that they do. No mention of viewfinder problems.) I have accessory 35mm and 135mm viewfinders which I can use, maybe at least to test for shutter holes. -- glen
John Farrell
The lever around the rewind shaft on the IIIA changes the magnification of the viewfinder - giving a 35mm and 135mm? view.

Three different magnifications of a little circle. -- glen
SCL
Call Youxin Ye about a CLA...he has done several for me. (www:yyecamera.com). His prices are on his site or you can email him...he is very responsive to inquiries.
Brian1664876441
Looking through the front of the viewfinder- can you see anything? Is there anything blocking the finder? I've heard of this happening on a Leica M3, where the prism separates making it so you cannot see straight through the viewfinder. I know Youxin had some repaired to fix that problem. I've opened up the Canon III to clean the VF/RF, have a parts camera that I practice on.
glen_h
I tried looking from the front, but only once. It might be that the prism moved, but it is hard to see. -- glen
Brian1664876441
If the prism moved I don;t think you would see the RF circle centered in the VF. If the prism split- that would leave one optical path working.
