Canon FD users' manuals

If anyone is interested in participating in a project, following is

the text of an e-mail I've sent to Leonard Foo and Christian

Rollinger:

Leonard,

I have an idea/proposal I'd like to present to you having to do with

users' manuals for Canon FD cameras. Your web site provides a wealth

of information (for which I am very grateful) on the various FD Canon

cameras - but information such as the users' manual for the T-90 is

in HTML format. The scanned manuals available on your site and

Christian Rollinger's tend to be rather poor quality scans in PDF

files. Here is my proposal:

I do a lot of digital imaging (film scanning, print scanning, image

manipulation) and document production and have very high-end

equipment for doing so. I also have OCR capability (to convert

scanned text to digital, editable text). If original (out of print)

Canon manuals were made available to me, I would be willing to do

high quality (high resolution, de-screening, alignment, OCR, cleanup,

etc.) scans and create printable documents (PDF or Zipped PowerPoint)

that can be printed two-sided in high quality in the original size

and bound for carrying in peoples' camera kits. This would be more

convenient than letter sized HTML pages and higher quality that the

currently available PDF versions.

Personally, I am most interested in the T-90 and 300TL manuals. I do

have an original A-1 manual in excellent condition that I would be

happy to process as described and provide to you as an act of good

faith. I would even go so far as to purchase original T-90 and 300TL

manuals (and make the finished documents available to you and

Christian) if you know of someone willing to sell them. I would

return any loaned manuals to their owners with postage at my expense.

I would see all of this as my contribution to the FD community.

I hope you see some value in my offer and want to pursue this.

Thank you in advance - I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
