benzphoto
Hello everyone, the shutter dial on my Canon F-1 NEW is really hard to use, and almost impossible to change with one finger. Does it happen with all the Canon F-1 NEW? or I have a problem with my camera? how can I fix it?
chuck909
I don't know about anyone else, but I have always used two fingers to change shutter speeds. I'd never even think of using one finger. (I've been using F1s (all 3 types) since the 70s)
jim_bielecki1
I remember reading an article in some photo magazine many years back that suggested changing shutter speeds with one finger. I have done so with my original F-1's, but using two fingers just seems easier and more sure. But, to answer your question, I just checked my F-1N, and it's hard to change speeds with one finger (partially do to the "arm" of the AE Finder getting in the way). I think that's just the way the camera is.
chuck909
The only Canon I do with one finger is the EF.
jim_bielecki1
Yes, definitely the EF. The AE-1 too, though not as easy.
ben_hutcherson
One finger is your only option on the A-1. Most of my others, though, are definitely a two finger affair. It's not a Canon specific thing either-none of my Nikons will change with one finger. Actually, I guess the early Nikkormats will, but then they don't have a conventional shutter speed dial(it's concentric with the lens mount and has a tab to change it)
steve_mareno1
It's more of a Leica thing. I used to use one finger a lot when I went shooting with most of my FSU cameras, but you don't want to know which finger......great lenses, but cameras only a masochist could love. JDMvW
I got an A-1 that was stiff, and it turned out that the take-up spindle was bent. A little work with a pliers and all was well (Canon A-1 - A-series "professional camera")
