Canon equivalent to D3100

<p>Don't know Canon at all and am looking for a friend who has a dead 6MP Rebel body.</p>

<p>Kind of a broad question. Equivalent on what level? What features do you think would be important and at what price point?</p>

<p>Not heavy, some video, good IQ, fully capable DSL, Lower price.</p>

<p>Agree with Jack, T3 with the current rebate going, T1i if that gives out. The biggest difference being highest ISO and the T3 is 720p video while the T1i gives 1080p.</p>

<p>Probably not an issue for an owner of a 8-10 year old camera. The CF cards from that era tend to be in the 256MB to 1GB range and, even if new Rebels could use CF cards, such small cards would not very useful on a modern 18MP Rebel. So one way or another, he will need new cards. Albeit, I would prefer the larger cards as I can handle them in the cold and find in my pocket much more easily than SDHC.</p>
