awahlster
I have the lens. I have shot many portraits with it. What would you like to know?
m_m7
Sorry to be so vague.I wanted to know if it has similar properties with the 135 AF version, which has two extra settings beside
the normal one.I had a Fujica soft lens before which had some holes which control the softness, very weird construction. If you have an example picture that will be great.
Thanks again
awahlster
The 85mm f2.8 soft focus has 4 settings 0-1-2-3 As to how it it would be like or dislike the 135mm AF soft focus I couldn't tell you as I have never used a 135mm AF soft focus. And I think the only sample I have seen from one is the one you posted in this thread.

I don't have any shots scanned and it would take some doing to find any in my wedding and Senior Portrait files since they aren't seperated in any way. But the effect is going to be very similar. Are you thinking about getting one for use with a FD mount body? as it won't work on an EF mount body at all. except for macro of course with an adapter.
m_m7
Yes I want to use it on my T90.I found one used and I will buy it,was just curious if anybody else liked it.My 135 has only 0-1-2 so it will be interesting to use it at 3.Somehow got in love with these FD lenses and used them with stunning results. Thanks again,
Mihail
alan_swartz
Mihail,

I have no experience with the EF 135mm SF, but I understand that it introduces spherical aberration to create the soft-focus effect, as does the FD 85mm version. As you undoubtedly know, the effect is very dependent on the aperture as well as the soft-focus setting.

I really like the results with the FD lens, and you can indeed create a quite strong effect. Unfortunately, I can't put my hands on a sample to scan at this moment either.
