Farkle-Mpls
I finally got a Canon LTM 25mm/F3.5 for my screw mount Canons but I'd like to use it on my modern Leica Ms (M7, M9) too. I'm concerned about the depth the of the lens -- it intrudes quite a bit into the body. Has anyone mounted this lens (with appropriate LTM adapter, of course) on their modern Ms? Any issues? Thanks!
r._m_ller
I use this tiny lens on my M4-p, and with adapter on my Fuji X-E1 without any problems - and it is a fine lens if yours is in good condition. Moderate contrast, neutral colors and only in backlight situations it is a bit prone to flare.
As you have said - "it indrudes quite a bit into the body" ... not like old angulons or biogons. M7 and M9 user will confirm this information.
jim_bielecki1
I use this lens regularly on my Leica MP with no problems at all. A nice, small, compact lens and optically very good, but with some flare, as Muller has stated.
Farkle-Mpls
Thanks for the comments! With Jim's positive experience, I (bravely!) attached the lens to my M7, then M9 and on the M9 took this picture. It's an overcast day so this is just a snap from my front door.

Farkle-Mpls
The lens is quite sharp considering it's age (according to PK, the lens is a Type I lens, manufactured prior to 1961). Here is a crop at full size.
gary_b._herbst
I have had the 25 Canon for almost 40 years and have yet to see a Leica it will not work on. I have tried it on an M5 and used it on a CL. If it will work on those, and it did, then I see no reason not to use it on any other Leica.
I now use it on my M8 for a very handy walk around lens if I want a little less contrast than the Zeiss 25mm.

ari_kermaier
I really love my Canon 25/3.5 LTM. I hope one day to have an M9 for it, but for now it does well on my Epson R-D1s:

R-D1s, ISO 1600, Canon 25/3.5 @ f/4

The copy I used for this shot had lots of fine coating scratches on the front lens element, so it had an even greater tendency than normal to flare.
BTW, I'd be interested if you could comment on the corner/edge performance of the lens on your M9, given it's deep rear element -- is there much color shift or resolution loss/smearing? (The R-D1 has a 1.5x crop sensor, so I'm not seeing the edges of the lens' image circle in my pictures.)
