hugh_crawford1
I was at Photo Expo in NYC today, and Canon is doing a big promotion on the imagePROGRAF iPF5000 printers at the show. Most of the dealers are offering a "instant rebate" of $500 off the price plus a Free Roll Holder - Feeder which comes too about $1380. The booth I bought mine from even included Free Shipping. All of the usual suspects ( Adorama , B+H etc. ) were selling them for $1380 with the Roll Holder which is about $750 off of the prices advertised also the B+H web
gan_esh
Here in Singapore, companies like Canon and Nikon usually offer rebates during expo time. The other reason could be because not many photographers are buying it. I was thinking of buying one a few months ago, but couldn't find many in-depth reviews on the net....which sort of told me that it's not very popular compared to the Epson 4800 (similar price/size). It's kinda sad, coz according to one review I've read on luminous-landscape, it's seems to produce stunning prints, only hampered by a dodgy user interface. I hope I'm wrong. Let's hope things pick up for Canon's Lucia type printers, coz it's always better to have more than one choice for great pro-quality prints. For the moment, I'll stick to my 4800. Just my 2 cents.
