I wondered what this was all about.</p> <p>FWIW: Idiomatic American English (and the Mac operating system) calls these things balloons. They were originally (as "speech balloons") invented in political cartoons of the late 18th century, and had their heyday in the era of the comic book.<br> The Mac used "help balloons" that would pop up on "mouseover", but I never knew anyone who hadn't turned this "feature" off, once they discovered how to do so.</p> Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
