ulf_agerup
The lens of my Ricoh GRD has got stuck. When I turn on the camera it just makes some sound as if it is trying to retract it, but it does not budge. I do not think it would be worth sending it in to a service centre. They charge a lot just for an estimate, and the camera is not exactly new. However, I like it, and if it is possible to get it unstuck, I would give it a try.

If anyone has an idea, I would greatly appreciate it.
MichaelChang
Hi Ulf, I've done it a couple of times on Sony cameras and it's not easy. The disassembly procedure wasn't clear even with the service manual. My susgestion is, take your time and document the process with another camera in case the procedure takes longer than anticipated, and take particular care in tracking all the little screws, flat cables, and all the little bits that come apart. Order a service manual if available.

With proper precautions, the worse you can do is being unsuccessful with fixing the problem and not incurring further damage. Good luck.
godfrey
The Ricoh GRD is/was an expensive, high quality compact camera. If you still enjoy using it, do yourself a favor and have it serviced professionally.
