mike_halliwell
As a follow up to CPM's news about the Camera Control Pro 2 update....

I went looking for when the D3200 was going to be supported and found this...

http://answers.nikonusa.com/answers/7022/product/25366/nikon-inc-camera-control-pro-2-questions-answers/questions.htm?page=3

The D3200 has the smartphone/tablet connection with the new WU-1a. It is simpler to use and wireless enabling shooting from up to 49 feet away.

Anyone slse really fed-up with Nikon's utterly awful software attitude? The Hi-Res D3200 would make for a nice high resolution tethered slide 'scanner' for want of a better word aswell as macro..... To use as they suggest I need to go buy an Android device and a £60 dongle....

Pop to the Nikon Website and see it gets 2.2 out of 5

http://reviews.nikonusa.com/7022/25366/nikon-inc-camera-control-pro-2-reviews/reviews.htm?sort=submissionTime

I hope someone from Nikon actually reads these, it's truly depressingly awfully bad... :-(
Jerry_
Perhaps you can e-mail Nikon in Japan with your situation? But my guess is you are buying, or bought, the *budget* body with the needs of the *premium* D-SLR body. Some things in life just do not go the way one hopes they will....
ripple_ratt
wow,
Thanks Mike Halliwell for posting this and saving me a lot of time trying to figure out why the laptop sees the d3200 but camera control pro 2, Nikon's own product, is not seeing my new d3200.

I finally went to try the PC and camera control pro 2 with the d3200 cause the WiFi for $60 is totally useless with the android app. Beta software and just basic proof of concept in operation crap.

see my review on Google play. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nikon.wu.wmau

Also note that it's been 6 months and if they were customer focused they would hire a developer to fix the app. but it seems no one is working on it cause not one update since initial release. not one. Nikon has no intention of making that app any better.

so now i am feeling like i got ripped off by Nikon when i bought the d3200. i have to sell it and buy something else cause it just does not do what the rest of the Nikon DSLRs can do.... which is remote control. the android app cant do it at a pro level. sure it passed the test plan n developer got paid and left never to be heard from again.

really Nikon? you cant write a driver for the 3200 so it can be used like the rest... android only? what are you nuts? not one single review on that either anywhere...

I have had enough. i think i gonna bite the bullet and dump Nikon.

ARRRRGGGGG!!! this new camera is just getting worse and worse, anyone selling Cannon gear?

Ripple Ratt
Phat Ratt Photography of Colorado
mike_halliwell
I'm with you there! Not sure what to do with my D3200 now. I might sell it to a friend..:-)

The newly released D5200 has a same size chip AND a fold out screen....and CCP2 sees it..etc etc. In the meantime I got a D5100 at a good price....:-)

I've not tried to see whether a Mac can see it? Apparently Aperture 3 can..!

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4176

ARRRRGGGGG!!! Being a PC based Nikon user isn't a bed of roses sometimes!

ivelin_iliev
That's my first camera and I'm already quite disappointed of how much stuff is missing there.. I found this http://www.digicamcontrol.com/ which looks similar although I haven't used Camera Control before, so I can't really tell the difference. It's free and working :)

ivelin_iliev
Mike, it is working on D3200. I did some exposure bracketing and time lapse and those are working just fine.
