Calculate sunset/rise anywhere in the world

OK, this might be old news to many but I just found this link to a site that allows you to calculate the local sunset/rise

I got eroneous results. It's hard to believe that the sun didn't rise this month until after 1pm. It's usually up by 6:30am. I might have entered data incorrectly, though. I'll give it another check. Below is what I got the first time:

Doh! It's not Alaska Standard Time, it's GMT! But it knows the
time zone, why can't it display the data in local time?

I did the computation again for my area with correct results. This
time, I left the time zone setting on "Automatic." Last time, I
provided "US/Alaska."

 

totally understand. I probably would have messed that up if you
hadn't point it out...

Another site with a similar tool is the U.S. Naval Observatory. This one doesn't require a nearby airport, and will also calculate moonrise/set, too. (Important for Noctilux users, I'm sure. ;-) )

 

I don`t do the leg work myself. I got a very handy and correct
laminated card in my bag; Sunrise compass bearing on one side,
Sunset on the other. Index card size.
