jim c
It's hard to give a short answer but these have to do with posing styles and positions. S-pose is a female pose where the body positioning is shaped like an S while standing. It has to do with the tilt of the head and position of hips, body and legs. It's traditional posing and is suppose to look feminine. C-pose is a masculine pose that is usually seen when sitting. The mans head is tilted in the same direction as the legs or arms and create a C shape. More traditional posing. You didn't explain where you got the reference to diagonals but in photography diagonals are the lines created by the subject and or background that are diagonal. They are lines that are more pleasing to the viewer and complimentary to the eye. Vertical and horizontal lines just don't look as good. This is a basic concept of photo composition. doug_harhai
Do a google search for "Joe Zeltsman" and you will pull up his website. There is a manual there, very detailed, that describes all of the terms and posing theories.
brianwiese
<p>I was just looking for another reference to this other than from the book I was reading, fortunately, someone highlighted an except from the book "Posing Techniques: For Building Model Portfolios" by Billy Pegram on a The Portrait Photographer blog here: <br> http://portrait-photographer.blogspot.com/2009/02/posing-body-csi-program.html<br> excerpt:<br> "<strong>Diagramming a Pose.</strong><br />The CSI program begins with learning to diagram a pose. First, a line is drawn through the shoulders. Second, a line is draw across the hips. A third line is then drawn from the center of the shoulder line to the center of the hip line, creating the body line. Next, a fourth line is drawn from the center of the body line to the foot that has the least weight on it. The fifth and final line is drawn from the center of the shoulder line to the center of the head mass."</p>
