Had a quick question whether anyone has any tips on removing spring c clips that are used as retaining rings, usually on the cheaper lenses. Blu-tak and masking tape can be used to prevent the tips of circlip pliers from scratching the surrounding/underlying surface. That, and being very careful. Also, most repairers aren't averse to modifying standard off-the-shelf tools.
