dave_thomas8
Greetings from a new poster! Finally acted on a decades long fantasy and have, over the past couple of weeks, acquired the parts to assemble a Bronica SQ-A. Everything looks decent cosmetically, but disappointment has set in as I tried to load a roll of 120 film today. When I advance the crank, the film counter never leaves the "S" mark. I do feel a sort of detent action as the crank rotates, but no count appears. The film actually advances, I was able to wind it all the way through. My educated guess would be the problem is in the back, even though it is quite clean and shows no hints of abuse. Since I started out in minimalist mode, I have no other parts to swap around for trouble-shooting. I am hoping the collective wisdom here might have an idea or two. Anyone ever experience something similar? Is it near 100% likely the back? I know there's a few mysterious mechanical interlockings in these beasties. (Has anyone ever tried taking a back apart?) Since I ultimately plan to have a second back, I suppose my first step might be to acquire another one, maybe opting for KEH, vs eBay. Assuming the seller of the back isn't too helpful, anyone know of a reliable place to get service on it in the greater Philadelphia (PA) area? Thanks, Dave
jimmy_english
You could buy another insert as most of the workings are in the insert. They are much cheaper than buying the whole back.
