harveysteeves
Now, how do I clean the mirror? My nearest repair guy is 250 miles away so is there anyway to clean it myself? Funny I bought the camera in the same city as the closest repair guy.

John Seaman
You have to be very careful cleaning SLR mirrors as the front surface is silvered and easy to damage. Only try to clean it if it is really bad.

I use a cotton bud (cotton swab, Q-tip) with the end teased out to clean them - try to get the softer ones, some cheaper ones are rather harsh. Just breathe on the mirror and lightly rub it with the cotton bud until it comes shiny. Be careful not to scuff the focus screen, and don't try to clean the screen either, you will just make it worse.
John Seaman
Another point is that AF SLR's like the Maxxum 7 have a very intricate pattern etched into the mirror, again easy to damage but I've just tried using the procedure on an old 7000 and it seems to work fine.
Andy Collins
That's a really cool camera that I enjoyed using several years ago. Enjoy it!
