pdoyle
Has anyone used this combination? I don't have a camera store nearby to try out equipment, so mostly I end up mail-ordering items sight unseen. I'd like an easier way to go vertical on my 3021Pro/3047 tripod/head, and this looked like it might work well. Thanks!
pdoyle
I'll answer my own question for the sake of anyone who might be looking for this same info. Since I couldn't find out anything from PN, I contacted Bogen customer service and asked them if they had any known issues using this bracket with my camera configuration. They said no, so I ordered one from B&H. When I unwrapped it and tried to set it up, I found out that, in fact, the bracket will not work when the BP-300 battery pack is in place on the Elan 7 (without the BP-300, it should work fine). So now I have to send it back at my expense. Don't make the same mistake. By the way, the 3288 elbow bracket seems to be sturdily constructed and thoughtfully designed. It's rather bulky, moreso than I imagine the custom Kirk/RRS brackets are, but it's also 1/3 the price of those, so if you're on a budget and can check one of these in a store to make sure your camera will fit it, it might be a good solution if you have a tripod head that matches the hex plate of this bracket.
