dakotapod
Hello. This bar started to appear on my images last week. Was actually half the size shown here, so it's growing. I searched high and low and can't find anything similar out there. Canon SL2. Doesn't matter if I change lens, inside or outside. Auto or various settings. It's high shutter count and past warranty so won't be sending it in but would like to know what it is and if camera is toast. I've had 10 canons and a million shots and this is a first. Even updated firmware. Tried other cards, pretty much everything. Thanks! http://www.merlinphotovideo.com/IMG_0707.jpg
mike_sowsun
I can't see how it is a shutter problem. It seems more like a sensor, or processor problem.

Mark Keefer
Just a couple of suggestions to check, I never owned your version of the Rebel and am not familiar with what options your Rebel has. Is this happening with flash on and at shutter speeds above 1/200? If yes it could be a highspeed sync issue, shooting manual flash above 1/200-1/250 can create a similar effect. If this is the case, shoot at slower shutter speeds with flash on, or check if high speed sync works with your flash. Is this showing up in RAW files or just JPEGs? If JPEGs only is it happening with non native lenses, either way, try disabling any lens compensation settings, like lens perephrial illuminations compensation and chromatic aberration correction. This issue would show up in JPEG only, never in the RAW file. Lens perephrial illuminations compensation compensates for lens vignetting. LINK Please let us know what you find. Good luck. mike_sowsun
This is NOT a flash sync problem. The EXIF data shows it was shot at 1/30 and f/5.6

dakotapod
Mike, good catch! Yes, I should have thought of using EXIF online. Thanks guys. I've tried countless settings and scenarious and it's always there. And It's actually growing in size. each use. However Video is not affected at all. Is that because it's zoomed in on sensor? dakotapod
I can. As clear as anything I shot. And it's starting to vary, and that's the crazy thing. Some are just a 1/4 inch, some are 5/8 to 1/2. I shot two videos today, not an issue. Has to be the sensor. But it's growing. Literally getting bigger each use. The camera is not important. I've easily shot over 300k shots. This is really more of a curiosity. The video being fine has to point to the sensor, no? Because the video at 1080 is using center of sensor. Right?
