charles_benton1
I'm looking for a shoe-mount flash for my 1v (yes, the film body). Bounce isn't necessary, I'm mostly looking for the smallest/lightest available direct flash. TTL is a plus but not critical. Needn't be Canon branded, just cant fry my hotshoe or anything. Thanks for your help.

w_t1
you need bounce or cord to remove flash from hot shoe, trust me on that.
sarah_fox
http://www.amazon.com/Morris-Mini-Slave-Flash-Plus/dp/B0002ICBTS

I don't know whether the shoe voltage is safe.

I agree with WT, BTW. If you can go with larger and want to bounce, I believe the Vivitar 285hv flashes of recent manufacture use safe voltages. An even better option is to trigger the Vivitar off-shoe with an el-cheapo, Ebay-type, Chinese radio slave. The transmitter that mounts on the shoe is really quite tiny.
nick roberts
I would agree with Andy; the 270EX is small, fairly meaty, and has bounce as a bonus.
franklin_polk
I have a Speedlight 200E, but I also have a Nikon SB-15 than I use with my 1v. It isn't a whole lot bigger than the 200E, and has full manual controls and bounce. I have two that I've found for less than $10 each.
bjscharp
Sunpak RD200. Even has E-TTL and bounce. Foot folds into the flash, so in your pocket it's smaller than a packet of cigarettes.

I use it occasionally on an EOS 30.
