shawn_rahman
Greetings all. I am looking for the most suitable PRINT film for a South Asian / Indian Wedding I am doing in a few weeks. I'll be shooting one or two pre-wedding ceremonies as well. Normally, I use NPH rated at 320 for events & parties, but it may not be adequate for this event with all of the vibrant colors of the women's Saris and other dresses, flowers, makeup, gold, etc. (If you are familiar with these parties, you know what I mean). Instead of the NPH, I am thinking about Superia 400, and perhaps even Kodak Supra 400. I'd be willing to sacrifice a bit of skin-tone for overall vibrancy. Can anyone with a similar/like experience shed some light on this? (sorry 'bout the pun). FYI - primarily using a Nikon F100 with SB-80DX flash mounted on Stroboframe. Thanks in advance! bruce_rubenstein
I would use Kodak Portra UC400. Finer grain the the Superia or Supra, strong color and good skin tones, in my experience.
scott_eaton
UC 400 is more lively than NPH without sacrificing accuracy like Inferia 400 does. Supra 400 - WAY too contrasty for this event. UC 400 is a better option.
shawn_rahman
Thanks, guys. I assume I rate the UC at 400?
kevin m.
Portra UC is an excellent choice. It's very fine grained with vibrant, yet accurate colors. It's not as forgiving with flawed skin as NPH is, though. Meaning, it won't hide skin flaws, but it doesn't accentuate them, either. Try it out before the big day, and rate it at 320 just like you do the NPH.
