stacy
In CS3 how would you convert from raw and then run an action to sharpen in one batch process? I've been doing the two seperate, but there must be a way to do it all together? Thanks!
garrison_k.
Open PS, open Bridge, open a raw photo in photoshop. make new action, name it..."slight sharpen" and hit record. slightly sharpen your photo via smart sharpen. stop recording. close photo, don't save. go back to bridge, right click on thumbnail of raw photo. top tool bar is... tools/photoshop/image processor a number of choices here on what kind of file and size and where to save it. click the icc profile part so it converts with your raw adjustments but to answer your question, there is also the "run action" box and you should see your action. hit run. this Russel Brown Image Processor is my best friend. I make several sharpen actions for various files. mostly because of noise/iso
mendel_leisk
Adobe Camera Raw has a sharpen function, by default it's on, set to a reasonable amount. When dealing with lots of raws with identical sharpening requirement (or anything else): 1. Start Bridge 2. Select raws. 3. Start the ACR dialogue *without* Photoshop startup (hotkey is <ctrl> R) (you can also set defaults so PS doesn't start up) 4. Click Select all in the ACR dialogue. 5. Set sharpening as needed. 6. Click sync settings, and (maybe in your case) *just* tick sharpening. 7. Click save image, etc.
garrison_k.
Mendel, is the sharpening in CS3 ACR better than in CS2? Applying sharpening in the raw converter was always frowned upon amongst the guru's. Not sure if they improved it with CS3?
mendel_leisk
Don't know. Try it and compare?
garrison_k.
I'll stick to the proven 'smart sharpen' and my various settings in various actions.
patricklavoie
Garrison; yes the sharpen method is by far better in ACR CS3 then CS2, but as you i prefer to use a smart sharpen. Stacy, you can open all your raw in ACR, aply the same setting or fine tune them separatly (that way youre sure that all your raw have been develop your way) close them all, then select them all go into image processor, select your action that you have create and voila. stacy
Thanks you guys- I'm going to give it a shot :) I prefer to use actions for sharpening as well. I've tried the sharpen feature in CS3, but still don't like it as well as other methods. Happy Sunday!
