khidhir_zakaria1
I recently acquired an old Gitzo Gilux Sports Performance with 3-way pan head Gitzo R No. 1. I am thinking of changing the head to ballhead, but there are just too many out there to make my head spin. So I hope you guys can help. I am using it primarily for hiking and camping with DSLR & regular lens - longest that I want to carry around is 200mm. Or should I just keep the head and add a QR clamp? I dislike having to screw on/off everytime I need to use it. Any suggenstion is greatly appreciated. Thanks. KZ
eye-of-searle
I great head for hiking is the ArcaTeah Ultimate ballhead. It will hold large lenses with ease and it's very light. Very well made. Not sure what your budget is, but it's about $300 and worth every penny. I've been using mine for a few months now and could not be happier.
