This book is for photographers intending to earn a living

with photography. It provides basic business notions, models for

contracts and release forms and seemingly lots of sound advice.

It may also be useful as a reality check for those who dream of

earning a living as a photographer.

Keep in mind, though, that this book essentially discusses two photo

markets: assignment photography and stock photography. Fine art

photography is not covered.

The book is a collective writing by obviously experienced

photographers. On the one hand you have (again seemingly, I wouldn't

know really) sound advice thoughout the book, and on the other

some sections seem to be repeating themselves. Half the book

deals with the two markets I mentioned and most of the rest of

that is on pricing, estimating, negotiating and setting up

contracts. There is a short

section on electronic technology (of limited interestto those already

using computers) and a short section on book publishing.

All in all, not a bad book. It is also a discreet advertisement for

the American Society of Media Photographers.
