Artixscan 120tf with Windows VISTA?

I made the mistake of Not checking the compatibility of my Microtek Artixscan

120tf before I opted to get Windows Vista on my new computer last month. I just

figured that since Vista had been out long enough and that Microtek was a big

enough company (as is LaserSoft) I'd just find the upgraded software and be back

in business. No such luck.

 

I was able to easily upgrade my Epson 2450 software and the LaserSoft software

for it but I am completely stuck on the Artixscan 120tf.

 

Can someone tell me if the current drivers will work at all with Vista? Even in

a partial-capabilities way? The Microtek site seems to indicate that they are

working on updating the software but no firm date is given for the completion of

this.

I Don't know the answer to this, but two things occur to me. The first is are you using SCSI or USB? I have found a USB connection to be much more tolerant of software in compatabilities. I believe that scanner is equipped with both connections. Secondly, have you tried Vuescan? That may be worth a go. I remember an occasion when it worked fine with my Nikon LS-2000 when Windows XP failed to see the scanner at all. I think Vuescan has a free trial version.

The 120tf has no USB interface, only SCSI and Firewire. I'd use Firewire and VueScan on Vista.

Forget the Microtek software, Vuescan is much better anyway.

Firewire. You are quite right! Sorry! I've got one on the desk in front of me and I still got that wrong!

install what you have, it will work with Vista too. I've already calibrated 120tf and scanned two rolls today with SilverFast 6i. Processed with SilverFast HDR.

I was using FireWire, btw. 120tf and SilverFast work better than MS's IE7 in Vista :)
