timberwolf1
How would an "Art Photographer" approach photographing a wedding? What are the differences? Is "Art Photography" a 'higher form' of wedding photography?

shawn_rahman
I currently use my two F100s for Wedding Photography. Will these cameras work for Art Photography, too?
fotografz
This is creativity in the service of commerce. It can be artistic, but rarely if ever is it art. Visual art is a ground capturer for the advancement of visual philosophy. The concept of Stieglitz's "Equivalents" is arguably in that camp. Wedding shots, (no matter how beautiful or provocative), arguably, are not.
timberwolf1
Ellis V. questions are a nice expansion of my questions. Readers can answer those too! Marc W.'s comments were 'good stuff'. My eyes opened and my brain started to pump more blood upon reading his words. Keep going.
kipling
What is photographic art? IF photographic art is a visual concept that has aesthetic value and expresses symbolic meaning in the form of a photograph, then the approach could be similar to that of a wedding photographer but would probably show another side to the wedding that on a greater scale would give new meaning to the wedding ceremony. <p> Art photography could IMO very well be a "higher" form of any kind of photography. The opposite isn't possible. Wedding photography can't be the higher form of art photography. It simple is too one dimensional for that.
cjogo
I am foremost an artist--selling my images for over 25 years--weddings pay for "art" addiction but..I do bring the "art" objectives I was taught from the Adams/Weston days, I gathered ~~ here in Carmel. I don't bring the token view camera to the altar but the artistic curves are aimed towards the wedding images we produce....... http://www.photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=288976&ratings=false
