I have an original Nikon hood and have purchased a costly replacement hood for my Nikon 500mm f4 AFS. I dislike the hood lens interface for this lens even though it has held up over the years. As far as replacement hoods, I usually get the rubber colapsibles that you can purchase off ebay for about $15 or less depending on the filer size.
