blaze_badanik
I am trying to take some good pictures for my web store and need some advice of what mannequin or fixture to buy and where to buy. Similar shots might also require some special technique that I am not aware of and I would greatly appreciate if somebody anybodies help. I would love to get similar pictures as I posted on http://www.freewebtown.com/sonule74 Previously I have tried using mannequins but they all had neck sticking out or arms sticking out and I could never achieve pictures as shown on the site. Do I need to use special kind of mannequin or different fixture? Please help me to look good. Thanks, Blaze<div></div>
w.smith
I would spray paint the mannequin blue: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluescreen.
d_gillespie
The blue screen idea won't give you the result above, the rear interior neckline would have to be created, time consuming and not necessary. IF you have access to a store fixture supplier you may be able to pick up some older or damaged torso mannequin parts. You will obviously have to modify them with some careful sawing/ cutting to eliminate the parts that would be visible to the lens. The wrists can be solved with flat black fabric wrapping the arm ends. For short sleeve products you will need to remove or modify the arms again. The is a fair amount of prep work here, but the results can be pretty good. Also there are forms that mimic the drape of the fabric to make sure it is uniform as the fabric is stretched and pinned at the rear.
chuck_goodenough
Hi Blaze, The only way I've been able to do this is with lots of styling like tubes or rolled up cardboard etc in the arms and retouching. The inside neck is manufactured in photoshop. In the case of the red sweater on the below linked page, there was a model and I asked him to keep his hands away from the front of the garment: http://www.chuckgoodenough.com/apparel-on-mannequins.html Good luck! Great question! Chuck
