Aperture FL 58mm f/1.2

Hello,

 

I just receive a Canon FL lens 58mm f/1.2.

 

i cannot make vary the aperture, I tested both standalone and

mounted in a AE1P camera and is always completely open.

 

Is there a problem with this lens or this is normal?

Does it stop down when you trip the shutter?

 

If it doesn't stop down for any reason, it's defective. The oil has frozen the blades.

Try setting the aperature small (22) and push the stop-down preview lever (the black fold-out lever on the camera body by your left fingers) while looking through the viewfinder. If the scene gets dark, the aperature works.
