mjt
Found a "News" post over at dpreview.com about someone who un-earthed a patent (http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=7138663.PN.&OS=PN/7138663&RS=PN/7138663). anyone have any additional (more concrete) news about this? regards, michael
ShunCheung
DPReview has a short article on it with diagrams: http://www.dpreview.com/news/0708/07080901nikonimagesensor.asp Please keep in mind that the patent was filed back in 2003.
oskar_ojala
Patenting something doesn't mean it ends up in a product...

ShunCheung
Generally speaking, digital photography is still in its early stage, and we can expect a lot of new developments in the next 10, 20 years and perhaps longer. If we can look back in year 2027, we may laugh at how "primitive" the D200 is today. Whether this particular patent will lead to any product is unkonwn outside of Nikon. A lot of patents never lead to products. However, they can still be a major source of income if some other company needs to legally use the technology or information in patents that belong to you.
