chris_jordan3
Hey guys. i'm having a show here in Seattle in December, and i'm trying to come up with an easy way to get a mailing list of photo galleries, book publishers, museums and other photo art venues around the country, to send invites as part of my PR effort. AIPAD has their list but it is pretty limited, and hand-inputting the info from directories would take ages. does anyone happen to have such a list that they'd be willing to share?? ~cj (Seattle)
art_haykin
From my experience, all photo galleries and galleries that handle photography, and all publishers and museums that are interested in photos will have a website, or be listed, but I know of no "master list." Further, I sincerely doubt that any major ones would be willing to run up to Seattle for an unknown, but I could be wrong, and I hope I am. If you get a list, I'd send along a few samples first, and the best of luck
chris_hawkins
Where is the line between spam and a legitimate PR effort? I don't know.
james_chinn
Do a google search for AfterImage Gallery. They have a section on the site that lists links for about 40 or 50 photography only galleries in the US. You would have to probably go to each site to find a mailing address, but it is a place to start. You could also pick up a copy of B&W Magazine. If you are not familiar, all the advertising is by photo galleries, most if not all will have the mailing address listed.
mark_sampson
You should also know about a magazine called "Photography in New York International". an expanded gallery-guide. Don't have their address handy, my subscription is out.
