rick_waldroup3
Hello is anyone shooting with Agfa 400 speed Silvertone B&W film? I primarily shoot Fuji Neopan but have a chance to buy some of this Agfa film and any tips would be appreciated. I use Rodinal to process everything. How does the film compare to Tri X or Neopan? Thanks in advance, Rick.
john_shriver
The first three matches on a Google search made it pretty clear that this is just a rebranding of APX 400. For instance, http://www.digitaltruth.com/chart/unlisted.html Not a good time to start considering Agfa films, since the company is shutting down, crashed through bankruptcy. michael_beckmann
Let's be a little more precise when we talk about Agfa. AgfaPhoto is being sold off resp. liquidated. Agfa Gevaert seems to be fine. For instance, aerial film is a division of Agfa Gevaert, so this will probably be available in the future... Just in case you need 5" or 9.5" roll film. ;-)
brian_louie1
As John Shriver said, this stuff is Agfa APX. I used it when I took my into to photography class last semester and I loved the stuff. It's too bad it won't be around anymore. In terms of quality I liked the grain more than Tri-X, it seemed more fine to me.
rick_waldroup3
The reason I brought it up is because there is a guy on ebay who is selling 300 rolls (all at once, no dutch auction). It is 400 speed 36 exp rolls with an expiration date of 2007. I have shot APX 100 in large format before and it was really nice stuff. I have started buying a lot of B&W film in bulk whenever I can find it and freezing it. I have over 40 rolls of Neopan now and over 30 rolls of TriX but I am always on the lookout for film. I shoot a lot.
