clauder
Hello All,

Let me first say that even if I don't post here regularly (I don't shoot weddings, only some events, so I had nothing really to contribute to this forum that wouldn't have been said better by you guys) I learned tremendously by only reading what others have written here! Together with the lighting forum this must be one of the best photography resources available!

That being said I have one question though regarding digital workflow with PS CS...
Currently I have it configured to do almost all of the stuff automatically, but I have one problem with it still...

I use Camera Raw to preprocess and update all my images, then I create my contact sheets out of the file browser from the updated RAW files (learned that trick from Marc! Thanks for that!)
Now lets say my customer has selected 50 images as per contract from the 200 or so proofs, what would you do next? Do I have to open each and every of these pictures by hand (lets say none of them would need further tweaking) to save and print them?
Is there a way to save them right out of the File Browser without opening them, and fully automated (something like select the images, click on 'save', specify where and off it goes without further input)?
Currently it takes a lot of time and work to save them by hand (like for the last concert I shot, I had to do reprints of about 100 distinctive shots... took a long time to save them manually)

I suppose I could create an action for it easily, but how do you go about saving? If you save from an action, it will always be in the same hardcoded directory... Or I could leave the save art out or make it ask for my input, but then would have to sit all the time in front of the computer, which kinda defeats the purpose of automatization...
Is there a way to automate printing as well? I imagine you would have to create a separate action for portrait and landscape pics...

Lots of questions I know

Thanks a lot for your precious help!

Best Regards,
Claude

ben_rubinstein___mancheste
A simple open/resize/save action will do the job fast, I do all the tweaking in ACR then run an action which sharpens and does some minor tweaks before saving as jpg's. I turn off the auto-rotate feature in the camera, all my pics come out landscape so I can apply a 7X5" crop to all pics without having to rotate. clauder
Ben,
thanks for your answer! Where do you save them, always the same directory and then copy them over to the clients folder?
ben_rubinstein___mancheste
Nope, you can set up where to batch from, and where to save to in the 'Batch Processing' window. Each client gets a folder. In it are RAW, HIRES and LORES sub-folders. THe files are batched from the RAW folder to the HIRES, and then batched again from the HIRES folder, with a 7X5" crop, to the LORES folder. The LORES is used for 7X5 proofs, the HIRES for everything bigger.
