Angle Finder For 1Ds MkIII

The narrower slide-on fitting, now designated Ec by Canon but also compatible in this case with cameras taking Eb eyecups, is more-or-less an industry standard, which is why you can use high-quality angle finders from other mainstream manufacturers on the majority of Canon SLRs and DSLRs, although a few earlier cameras like the F-1 used a screw fitting. The wider slide-on fitting was introduced with (at least some of) the ECF cameras, and was designated Ed. For example, the EOS-3 uses it. I understand that it has reappeared on the 1DII/1DsIII. Prior to the release of the Angle Finder C, Canon sold a feeble little plastic screw-to-Ed adapter at a disproportionate price to fit the Angle Finder B (and Magnifier S) in place of the solid metal screw-to-Ec adapter. The problem with the Angle Finder C is that the finder slips off the adapter as easily as the adapter slips off the camera, a truly lousy piece of design.
