bobatkins
See http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/eosfaq/manual_focus_EOS.html for some information.

Basically there are chips available on eBay that you can glue to the lens mount. They have to be pretty accurately located, but once you have them fixed in the right position they generally work quite well. There are simple chips and there are chips that can be programmed via the camera so that they supply the EXIF info you want. Some even have a microfocus adjustment built in. They are typically sold direct from China.

In the past there were a few reports of cameras being damaged by such chips, but I've had no problems myself and it's possible that the technology is better now than it was when they were first introduced.
