karlheinz
Hi! I’ve shot a couple of rolls on my AE-1 Program. Loaded a new roll today after shooting with my medium format camera for a while, where I usually have tension on the film strip going across to the take up spool so on my AE-1 I noticed that the film was budging out a bit even after advancing 2-3 times. Tried with two different film rolls and rewound them back and tried again. Also tried to fiddle with the take up spool to give it more tension but that didn’t work. Is it supposed to be like this or will this cause uneven/distorted exposure of the image on the film? Or will the door push the film straight so its straight and perfectly parallel to the shutter curtain once closed? Anyone getting what I’m saying? :-)
cmuseum
The spring-loaded pressure plate on the inside of the back door will press the film against the rails and keep it flat.

JDMvW
This is another of my favorite cameras (OLD POST ON IT). There are Spiratone winders for it that make it even more pleasant to shoot and cost very little.
