steve_pham
Hi everyone, This has been a nagging question that I have been trying to answer. Does anyone know if the Advance Photo System offer black and white film? Or is it only for color photography? I would apreciate any help on this matter... -Steve
klaus_werner2
As far as I know Fuji are marketing in Japan only aB&W film similar to XP2 & Kodak's 400cn, i.e. it canbe processed in C41. There is also normal B&W filmavailable, again in Japan only.Without going into the pros and cons of APS, there isstill a long way to go until all the film types we areused to in 35mm are available in APS.This is mainly to do with the lack of processing capacityand skill. Here in the UK, Boots (a leading drugstore chain) arereplacing in-store Kodak labs with their own trained staffand equipment supplied by Fuji, to give APS processing a boost(per Amateur Photographer).Sorry, but can't be more specific on your question .... steve_canaan
First off, let me say I hope you weren't "suckered" into APS. There is no B&W film available, nor are there any pro films (although, what would be the point.)Sorry, I work at a Camera store and try my hardest to steer people away from APS. michael_fraser1
Unless you are a 'socker mom' or perinial tourist, there is no reason to waste time and money on the silliest photographic 'development' ever seen! The system is desinged for 'ease of use' and not for anyone even slightly interested in pursuing high quality photos. It discourages, if not outright prevents, user processing. The only B&W film available is the dismal chromogenic junk that requires the use of a commercial lab. Everyone in this formum should be processing their own film! With a daylight tank, chaning bag, and stop watch, you can do it in your kitchen sink!
