Adobe Camera Raw 4.6 / Lightroom2 and -CS3 on 50D

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Did a quick search and couldn't find a similar post.

I run both Photoshop CS3 and Lightroom 2. I recently upgraded to a Canon 50D & successfully upgraded to ACR 4.6

with CS3 following the instructions for the plug-in ,.....,but no such luck with Lightroom 2 ,....

I actually haven't a clue how to install the plug-in for Lightroom 2.

So now I can only process my Canon 50D files w/ camera raw on CS3 only. I have to resort to DNG format with

Lightroom 2

Any thoughts,....?

Am I missing something simple?

(PS dont get me started on the Canon Raw codec for vista,.....)

Any help appreciated

Regards

John

Hi John

Lightroom camera support gets added via version upgrades. The next version (2.1) is at release candidate level.

see

http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/Lightroom_2.1

They are also working on new camera calibration profiles that you will be able to customize. I don't think this

will necessarily work with new cameras because the camera makers keep "playing" with their raw formats to stifle

3rd parties like adobe. They want you to buy their software. It a well documented point.

Here is an article discussion this subject

Many many other articles can be found on the net.

Since ACR and Lightroom share the same code for image handling. If one support the 50D the other is coming soon.

Good Luck

Edmond
