ADBLOCK...blocking use of No Words forum

Discussion in 'Photo.net Site Help' started by frigo, Nov 21, 2017.

  1. The large AdBlock plaster which pops up when opening my PN blocks my access to using the No Words forum as it ''permannently'' covers the upload window. Is this serious enough to get somebody from admin/Glen&co to remove this and let me use the one feature of this site which WORKED for me....up to now?

  2. Me too, a huge part of the page is plastered with it.. despite being fully subscribed with presumably no ads ... I really think that it has no place here .. I can't scroll without it blocking everything ... ZZZZ 3599.jpg

Weird. I have Adblock plus and I don't have the pop up....
...and I've never seen an advert on here :)

  5. I have that too - and I did just get the pop-up. White-listed the site - pop-up persisted nonetheless. Turned out there was a second browser extension filtering banners - disabled that one and the pop-up is now gone. Still no ads though :D (which is a good thing as I don't click on any of them anyway).

  6. Dieter, can you give a little more info about second browser extension?

I use an ad blocker, but I really like this site so I disabled the ad blocker for photo.net. No problem having one small ad in a given thread.

  8. One little ad per page I can deal with. I have disabled ad block for p/n to see what happens. Anything flashes and I'm gone.

Hmm... it seems there are 3 ads (less than an inch high) instead of one like I said. I swear, I didn't even notice 2 of them LOL.

  10. Thats what they don't get, eventually we tune them all out completely.

  11. So it appears our choices now are to have the functionalaity of PN impaired by ads blocking menus or use an adblocker and have the OH! NO! banner block functionality.
The ugly OH! NO! banner shows up in Firefox but so far not in Chrome.

    My page looks like this:

Oh Fun! The server error banner now marries to the AdBlocker warning banner to take up even more screen real estate. I had to switch browsers to get around the banner to post an image. This is gonna get old fast.

  14. Apparently it was Kaspersky Protection blocking banner ads. The pop-up disappeared after I disabled the protection for the pn website.

Need to add that this was on firefox. On Chrome, it sufficed to whitelist pn for ad block plus to make the pop-up disappear.

I get 3 or 4 ads on every thread. 2 or 3 at the top and one at the bottom. Annoying, but there you have it.

  16. This is annoying, I have a premium account. We shouldn't see ads. Also still waiting for a response on losing a month of paid membership because I paid for next year almost a month early. Very disappointed.

subscribers shouldn’t see ads so something has clearly gone awry. i do wish management were a little more communicative about stuff like this.

  18. What is it going to take to get PN Admin to react to this and get the site working or whatever was working before this AdBlock plaster came into play.

  19. I can't even reply to some of the posts in this forum.
It is the final straw for me.

  20. Edit: Apparently there is no way to cancel my account but I have set "Auto-Renew" off.
