ACR will not recognize DNG images from ORF files, please help!

Recommended Posts

I recently had to replace a computer, a windows machine (now running windows 7), and while my mac setup is running CS5 and everything runs smoothly, I had been using DNG converter to process raw files from cameras not supported by the CS3 that I have a windows license for. This has been working fine until I installed photoshop on my new machine.

I have updated all adobe components, and it seems to me that all should work fine, latest version of DNG converter, Camera Raw, and updated Photoshop. But I still get a message that my files from my Olympus E-p1 converted to DNG are not the right file type to open in photoshop, and the option to open them in camera raw is greyed out.

Anyone have any idea why I'm getting this response, it seems to me that fresh DNG conversions should work in ACR!

Thanks for any input!

I don't know if this is your issue, but recent DNG converters have various backwards-compatibility settings, and default to a version of DNG that's only guaranteed to be compatibile with ACR 5.4 or later. You can change this under Preferences to (e.g.) '4.6 and later' (4.6 is the ACR version you should install with CS3 - update if necessary).
