About this forum - a rare post from the moderators

We've learned that photo.net received 10,000+ new members last month!

Philip and team are busy making improvements and changes to the site which

should take place shortly - so it looks like this might be an ideal time to

address and welcome newcomers as well as update the regular photo.net forum

members (and lurkers ;-) on changes and policy.<p>

<b>Introducing the Feedback Forum Moderators and Policy:</b><br>

Mary Ball & Garry Edwards moderate the Feedback Forum, and you can contact us

by clicking on our names and requesting our email addresses if you have any

queries or problems. <br>Our forum policy is simple. We want people to get

the best possible answers to their questions, so if you're asking a question

please take the time to make sure that other members/site administrators will

understand exactly what you need to know. <br>And if you're contributing an

answer, please be courteous to other members, stay on-topic and give as

complete an answer as you can.<p>

People sometimes misunderstand what this forum is about.<br>

<i><b>This forum is for bug reports and constructive criticism regarding the

software and content of photo.net.</b> A useful posting will contain the URL

of the page being discussed, e.g., "There is a typo at

http://www.photo.net/equipment/" or "I get a server error when I try to upload

an image from http://..". <br>A posting will not be accepted if it is about a

person rather than a Web page. In other words, a complaint about the moderator

of some other forum on the site would not be on-topic here. Nor would praise

for a specific author. You can say "I love the new Nikon D578 review", but

not "I think Johnny Writer is a genius."<p>

In responding to a post, make sure that you respond only to the content of the

thread and not the individual. In particular, we don't want to see the

discussion of anyone's motives nor do we want to see any kind of personal

attack. Motives are not knowable and are not relevant.</i><p>

<b>Threads or posts that don't follow the guidelines above will be deleted, or

moved to a more appropriate forum.</b> <br>As a matter of policy, we try to

avoid cluttering up the archives by deleting posts once they have been

answered, unless they have long-term archival value to other members, so

please don't feel offended if you post a question that doesn't make it to the
